library books....

Well, I just got back from the library. I got an email today telling me that I had two books that were so overdue they would be charging me fines on both of them. Very interesting, since I had returned them to the reserve desk the same day I took them out. . . .two weeks ago.

So I went down there, and talked to some workstudy girl at the circulation desk as the email had instructed me to do. Explained the situation and was told, "Oh, that happens all the time! Hold on a minute let me go check to see if the books are over there." A few minutes later she returns. . ."both of the books were over there, they just never got checked back in. . .but its ok, it happens all the time."

WHAT?! The library regularly charges fines with out actually looking for the books first? And why were they not checked back in when I handed them to the workstudy guy at the reserve desk to begin with? How is it that the library has been operating so poorly and no one's done anything about it?

Oh, and remember when we were supposed to watch the powerpoint thing earlier this semester, but due to the fact it somehow never actually got put on reserve (despite the fact the catalog online claimed it was) someone checked it out and the entire class never got to see it.

I think the library has a few things they need to work out.

P.S. They did end up erasing the fines on my account. . .

I wish they would erase a few of my fines. I get those emails all the time, but for some reason I don't take them seriously until I have a charge on my bill. Oh well. At least you got away with it.

The library is a source of unending irritation to me. I just got back from there tonight, figuring I'd give it's productive essence another chance, but nay, I was again disappointed. After an hour of work some chick thought it was perfectly normal to mosey over to my desk, sit down adjacent, and begin having a practically yelling conversation. To this, all I can say it, what the screaming fuck!
